InformNet Key School Policies

Students are expected to log into their courses daily. Most courses require one to two hours of work per day. The granting of course credits is conditional on meeting school attendance requirements.

InformNet academic honesty policy

InformNet emphasizes the importance of academic integrity. Students must:

  • Complete assignments independently.
  • Avoid plagiarism and misuse of internet content.
  • Not allow others to copy their work.

Consequences for Academic Dishonesty:

  • First Issue: Learning Check-In with the teacher, zero on the assignment or test.
  • Second Issue: Possible removal from the course.

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that InformNet provides a safe, supportive, and respectful online learning and working environment. All members of our community, including students, parents/guardians, staff, and administrators, are expected to demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and integrity in all interactions.

Respectful workplace policy

Students must accumulate a minimum of 30 credits to graduate with a Manitoba Provincial Diploma. The credit system allows students to pursue programs suited to their individual needs and aspirations.

30 Credit Summary

  • Registration: Forms are available online. Homeschoolers must complete appropriate documentation with the Manitoba Homeschool Office.
  • Course Selection: Students should choose courses carefully as changes may be difficult later. Classes have a maximum of 40 students and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Grade 12 students must write provincial exams at their day school, which contribute 20% to their overall course grade. InformNet provides the final grades out of 100 marks, and day school administrators adjust the grades based on exam performance.

Teachers may initiate Learning Check-Ins via Teams meetings to assess student understanding. These are approximately 15 minutes long and require students to have their cameras and microphones on and be prepared to share their screens.

  • Student Seat Fee: $350
  • Adult Learner Seat Fee: $500
  • Non-refundable Registration Processing Fee: $10 per course

InformNet offers asynchronous learning options, allowing students to work at their own pace while following due dates that ensure course completion within the semester. To support learning, synchronous opportunities are also available, including virtual classroom sessions for assessments, remedial instruction, and community-building activities.

To obtain a Mature Student High School Diploma, students must:

  • Be 19 years or older.
  • Have been out of school for six months or more.
  • Not have obtained a high school diploma.

All PE classes require parents/guardians to review and approve the student’s physical activity plan. Students must submit a personal fitness portfolio, and parents/guardians must verify the entries.

InformNet partners with Integrity Advocate to ensure academic integrity and fairness during online assessments and final exams. Integrity Advocate provides secure online proctoring, identity verification, and participation monitoring. This service helps maintain the integrity of the assessment process while protecting student privacy. Students need a computer with a webcam. Please note –  an iPad or similar devices will not work.

  • Regular Updates: InformNet provides monthly progress reports to keep students and parents informed about the student’s performance and progress.
  • Detailed Feedback: These reports include information on completed assignments, grades, and any missing work. They also highlight areas where the student may need additional support or improvement.
  • Parental Involvement: Parents are encouraged to review these reports and discuss them with their child to ensure they are on track and addressing any challenges promptly.
