There are many diverse scholarship opportunities available to graduating students at the local, national, and international levels. These scholarships often recognize academic achievement, community involvement, and other accomplishments. This page offers general guidance to help you explore what’s out there—but it does not include specific scholarship listings

Tips for Success in Applying for Scholarships

  • Start Early: Check deadlines and give yourself time to complete each application.
  • Personal Achievements: List your accomplishments over the past four years, including extracurriculars, employment, and personal qualities.
  • References: Choose references early and talk to them about your applications.
  • Read Criteria Carefully: Ensure you meet the scholarship criteria and tailor your responses.
  • Proofread: Have someone review your application and use spell check.
  • Apply Widely: Apply for as many scholarships as possible to increase your odds.

    University of Manitoba (U of M)

    • Requirements: Apply to the U of M before March 1 and have a minimum average of 85% over the best five courses from a pre-approved list in five different 40S subject areas.

        Entrance Scholarships

        University of Manitoba (U of M), University of Winnipeg (U of W), Brandon University (BU), and Université de St. Boniface (USB) offer entrance scholarships ranging from $750 to $3,000 for students graduating from a Manitoba high school. To be eligible, students must submit a regular entrance application by the specified deadline and meet the academic grades required.

        Requirements: Apply to the U of M before March 1 and have a minimum average of 85% over the best five courses from a pre-approved list in five different 40S subject areas.

        Scholarship Values:

          • 85.0-89.9%: $1,000
          •  90.0-94.9%: $2,000
          • 95.0%+: $3,000

            AFOA Nutrien Indigenous Youth Financial Management Awards

            • Information: Recipients attend AFOA Canada’s National Conference and participate in a special Youth program designed to introduce youth to careers in Indigenous finance and management. They become eligible for a $5,000 scholarship.

            RBC Indigenous Student Awards Program

            • Information: Assists Indigenous students to complete post-secondary education and provides an opportunity to strengthen its relationship with the Indigenous community. Selected students are awarded up to $4,000 each academic year for two to four years to use for tuition, textbooks, supplies, and living expenses.

            Anthem Essay Contest

            • Information: Applicants are asked to read “Anthem” by Ayn Rand and write a 600 to 1200-word essay responding to a question provided on the website. Prizes range from $100 to $2,000.

            Davis Scholarship

            • Information: Available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post-secondary institution. Students must write an essay of less than 1000 words about leadership.

            Chron’s and Colitis Canada IBD Scholarship

            • Information: Awards twenty one-time scholarships of $5,000 to students of any age, living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis who are enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary educational institute for the upcoming fall. Applicants must submit a one-page 500-word essay meeting criteria provided on the website.

            Sarah Gaulin Memorial Scholarship

            • Information: Supports and encourages the resilience of individuals with mental illness pursuing post-secondary education. Applicants must complete the application online, provide proof of an ongoing mental health condition, submit a resumé, provide recent academic transcripts, and two letters of reference.

            Loran Award

            • Information: Renewable for up to four years, valued at up to $100,000. Includes an annual tuition waiver and a stipend of $10,000, access to funding, internships through Loran’s summer program, invitations to annual gatherings/forums, and one-on-one mentorship. Applicants complete their application online.

            TD Scholarships for Community Leadership

            • Information: Awarded to students who have a minimum overall grade average of 75% and have demonstrated leadership in improving their community. Each scholarship is valued at up to $70,000 (up to $10,000 for tuition and $7,500 for living expenses per year to a maximum of four years). Applicants must submit a 600-word essay describing community leadership experience, a letter of recommendation from the school, two letters of support from community groups, a transcript, and a 250-word personal essay.

            Manitoba Association of Automobiles Club

            Women in Manufacturing (WIM) Scholarships
